Overhauling your bathroom may seem like a costly enterprise and a lot of hassle, but carefully planning and redesigning a bathroom is an investment you won’t regret. After all, they’re an essential part of our daily routines – even if you’re one of those people that are ready and out of the door in 15 minutes!
Feeling like you want to splurge on your next renovation project? Here are some of my favourite features that will make you want to spend more time in your bathroom.
A Freestanding Bath
If you’re lucky enough to have space, a freestanding bath is a great addition to a bathroom. Not only are they aesthetically pleasing, but they also are a joy to use if you want to unwind after a long week.
The models with feet are timeless, but those who prefer contemporary designs will be pleased to know that many brands now offer different shapes with sleek lines for a more modern style of bathtub. If you have enough room, you could even go for corner baths for that ultimate spa at home experience.
A heated towel rail
Speaking of spa experiences, how would you feel about a warm towel as you exit your bath (or shower!)? Towel rails are primarily used to heat small rooms like bathrooms, but they can also be used to complete that VIP treatment experience and warm up a fluffy towel in a few minutes. We wouldn’t recommend constantly hanging towels on it, though, as it can interfere with the performance of the heater.
Most specialist retailers offer a wide choice of sizes, styles, colours and have options for electric towel rails so you can find the exact model you know will work best in your bathroom.
A double sink area
Who hasn’t experienced that morning rush when the whole family needs to get ready, and everyone needs to use the sink at the same time? A double sink can help to solve this problem, or at least get everyone ready twice as fast.
It’s also perfect for couples that like to have their essentials close at hand, so each can organise their side as they wish. Of course, this will take up a larger area of the bathroom, but if you’re choosing models that include clever storage, you could end up having a two-in-one solution that saves you from adding shelves or extra cabinets.
An open shower
We’ll admit, an open shower isn’t always the most practical solution – especially for families- but this is a wishlist after all. Open showers or Italian showers can be completely open without any separation from the rest of the bathroom or have a wall or large cubicle without a door to give that feeling of space and still have a dedicated area for the shower.
You will have to make sure the floor is suited to this type of shower so that water gets drained properly. You could really go all out with massage jets and other features (keeping in with the spa at home experience theme).
Depending on your space and budget available, you may not be able to add all your dream features to your new bathroom. Still, even only one of these ideas will be enough to make a difference and create a stunning space that you will look forward to spending time in.
